Source Catchments: Results are in

Natural resource managers addressing complex water quantity and quality issues at key sites throughout Australia have been road-testing eWater’s integrated water modelling system, Source.

Today, to coincide with the official launch of Source Catchments, the first component to be publicly released, some of those managers addressed RiverSymposium to highlight the benefits of the product.

Catchment Challenge session at Riversymposium

eWater presented a feature session as part of the program, titled Towards better water management decision-making: Putting eWater’s models to the test.

All catchments have lots of different elements. It is part of the job for catchment managers but handling the complexity is becoming harder than ever. So eWater has set up the Catchment Challenge to help you tackle the complexity.

The session included contributions from Professor Gary Jones, CEO eWater CRC, Tony Weber, BMT WBM, Dr Phillip Jordan, SKM, Dave Waters, QDERM, and Dr Matt Hardy, BMT WBM.

eWater also launched its new product Source Catchments.

The Great River Debate

To finish off the conference in fine form, eWater’s Chief Executive, Professor Gary Jones chaired the Great River Debate as part of the Plenary Session. The debate explored the topic of The Oceans are our Solution for Future Water. Speakers included:

  • Stuart Bunn - Director, Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University
  • Roger Pulwarty - Director, National Integrated Drought Information System, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
  • Leon Braat - Senior Researcher International Biodiversity Policy, Centre for Ecosystem Studies, Alterra, Wageningen University
  • Chloe Munro – Commissioner, National Water Commission

Poster Plate Award Sponsor

eWater was a proud sponsor of the Poster Plate Award for the most informative, innovative and well designed poster at the event.

Hard copy posters were displayed in the foyer of Burswood Entertainment Complex and electronic posters had dedicated computer terminals.

Poster presenters were stationed at their posters during lunch on Wednesday to answer questions and discuss their work with delegates.
